  2.   Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm (Beta) My initial thoughts. On a whim I pre-purchased Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm yesterday. As a fan of the series I’d been looking at a lot of gameplay videos across a lot of good YouTube channels. I’ve played the Beta for about 3 and a half hours so far. My thoughts thus far are amazingly good.  This is one of the best multi-player shooters that I have played in a long time. Red Orchestra 2 had many problems, and to be honest I found it a bit dull. However Rising Storm fixes nearly every problem that the original Red Orchestra 2 had. The weapon varieties are interesting, the maps are better thought out and it actually feels there’s actual synergy between your team mates rather than being hunkered behind a wall for minutes waiting for a shot on a target only to get bayoneted in the back.  Part of me doesn’t understand why Red Orchestra 2 wasn’t as dramatic in it’s changes, and Rising Storm feels like the game that RO2 should have been. Sure it’s not the Russian front and a lot of series veterans might not like that aspect. But even in beta, Rising Storm just feels like a better game. The fact that it’s still called Red Orchestra does seem a little odd in the new Pacific setting I’ll admit.  My favourite thing about Rising Storm however, are the weapons that it features. All of the classics that you’d expect to be there are there. Including the M1 Garand, BAR and Thompson M1A1 on the side of the Americans. And the classic bolt action rifles and Katanas of the Japanese. Some other treats that feature are a Flamethrower and a Mortar Launcher. All the weapons are a joy to fire both in sight, response and sound.  Thus far it’s looking pretty damn promising. If anyone is interested in a stream of this (I was earlier) just give me a shout :)
